Mariah Carey's look has changed quite a bit since the dawn of her career. For most of the '90s, Mariah was known for her powerful 8-octave range and her masses of ringlets. She was wife to former Sony Music mogul Tommy Mottola and, for the most part, kept covered up.
At some point, things changed. Carey and Mottola divorced, she began collaborating almost exclusively with hip hop artists, the hemlines got shorter, the hair got straighter. The Hello Kitty sex bomb Mariah made her debut around the same time as her collaboration with P. Diddy, "Honey."
At a recent press appearance for her latest album, however, Mariah got back to basics, letting her natural curls shine as they hadn't in over a decade. I thought it made her look years younger, and a lot less contrived. At the Los Angeles premiere of Precious over the weekend, it looked like she was back to the straighteners and curlers.
