Makeup foundations are used to provide an even skin tone and cover surface imperfections. They enhance the aspect of the skin giving it a radiant glow. Components of this type of formulation must have hypoallergenic and non comedogenic properties. Foundation types - Moisturizer with color: Moisturizer cream with a little bit of color. It is recommended for any person (young or older) who wants to tone up just a little bit his/her skin. - Fluid Foundations: It is a very appreciate presentation by consumers, smooth and easy to spread. They provide transparency and give a natural look to the skin. - Foam Foundations: Bottled with pressure, these emulsions are transformed into foam by means of a spray. Although these foundations are very light and translucid, they are more covering and persistent than moisturizers with color. Once the volatile components are evaporated, they leave a slight and uniform tone over the skin, without any greasy sensation. - Powder Foundations: Solid products with a texture half cream and half powder. They provide a soft dusting final effect. - Pan stick: Its main characteristic is a high covering effect. It is indicated for bride, film, television, theater and photography make up. - Pan cake: It is a colored, matte make up, resistant to lights heat. It is a compact and drying product used in oiled skins, generally used for men's make up. Foundation has to be chosen taking into account each face characteristics. Should be applied and spread with a humid sponge (triangle shaped if possible, to reach every part of the face). Regarding tone, it has to be as close as possible to the natural color of the skin at daylight. It has to be taken into account that darker tones give an older look and too light tones give to the face an artificial look. Moisturizers with color and fluid foundations are used for day make up, while compact or semi compact foundations are used for night make up or photographic sessions.
